Parker Gresham is quickly establishing herself as a key contributor for the Chickasha High School varsity softball team, bringing a strong work ethic, positive mindset and team-first attitude into her sophomore season.
Gresham, who plays catcher and first base, credits much of her drive to her parents. “My mom has always set ambitious goals and consistently exceeds them,” she said. “And for my dad, he is a hard worker and taught me the importance of always doing my best.”
As she continues her high school career, Gresham balances athletics with academics, where English stands out as her favorite subject. She also points to former middle school teacher Mr. Gibson as a lasting influence on her educational experience.
On the field, Gresham embraces both the physical and mental demands of softball. While she is comfortable at multiple positions, she said the biggest challenge comes from within. “Honestly, no matter what position it is, the mental battle is always toughest,” she said.
That mindset carries into her approach at the plate, where she focuses on staying consistent and contributing to the team. “My process at the plate is ‘Yes, yes, yes,’ just trying to do a job for my team,” she said.
Gresham said one of her favorite parts of playing softball is the bond she shares with her teammates. “I enjoy the friendship the most,” she said. “I love how close we all are.”
That closeness shows in the personalities across the roster. She describes Gracie Peschl as the team’s most vocal leader, while Brooklyn Alexander keeps the dugout loose and energized. Gresham added with a smile that Peschl is also likely to have the dirtiest uniform after games.
Off the field, Gresham enjoys spending time with friends and family, keeping a healthy balance between athletics and personal life.
Through her experiences in softball, she has developed lessons that extend beyond the game. “Athletics has taught me to never give up and that no matter what, anything can happen,” she said.
Even in the small details, Gresham embraces the traditions of the sport, noting that one of softball’s best unwritten rules is simple: never step on the foul line before a game.
As she looks ahead, Gresham remains focused on growth, teamwork and continuing to do her part for Chickasha softball.
