VYPE: How did your season turn out and what were your goals?
Jaedyn: Our season was alright. We started out strong but along the way we had a couple of bumps in the road that we couldn’t get over to finish strong. However, no matter who we faced we still played with aggression and with teamwork. I set a personal goal of breaking the “most kills” record for the season and career; along with all-stating.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Jaedyn: The most fun I’ve had was when I went to nationals in Indianapolis with my club volleyball team, Oklahoma Charge. It was a great experience to face many teams from all over the U.S, and make new friends along the way.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Jaedyn: My favorite teacher through all my years of school would have to be my AP U.S History teacher, my junior year, Mr. Widener. He was just an all-around cool dude, and a wise soul. He gave great advice, listened to me vent, and always threw in a joke or two to make the class laugh.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Jaedyn: The last game of my first club tournament with Oklahoma Charge, in the Redland Rendezvous tournament. We were undefeated throughout the weekend, and made it to the finals in the gold bracket. We had to play against one of our own charge club teams; it was an intense game. However, we became victorious and won in two sets; winning the tournament.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Jaedyn: My teammate KK Willard. She has impressed me the most, not only is she just a freshman, but she was able to play against upperclassmen with ease. She was able to step up and fill my position as an Outside hitter when I tore my ACL; which to me was outstanding. She has so much potential and room to grow.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Jaedyn: Being able to depend on other people, on and off the court.
VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing volleyball?
Jaedyn: At first I didn’t want to play volleyball, I wanted to just cheer. However, with a lot of convincing from friends I gave in and joined the middle school team in the 7th grade. Now, 5 years later, I haven’t stopped playing for more than a week since.
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.
Jaedyn: I want to say thank you to all of the coaches I’ve had that have gotten me this far in volleyball. Especially Coach Kami Bratcher, for always pushing me to my greatest potential; and Coach Nancy Waters, for always coming in to help me practice whenever I needed, so I could continue to grow as an athlete. I want to also say goodbye to all of the coaches that coached me; along with my club and high school teammates that I had throughout my 5 years of playing. I would have never imagined my senior year ending the way it did, but I am great-full and lucky to have the opportunity that I did in meeting so many talented teammates for both club and school volleyball. I do, however, want to say hello to the next chapter of my life. My recovery and new teammates. After years of grueling practices, late nights in the gym, it has paid off as I leave my adolescent days of volleyball; and head into reaching my full potential, in college volleyball.
