The Chickasha Fightin’ Chicks boys basketball team has a mix of upper and underclassmen and is ready to hit the hardcourt. After finishing 11-18 last season, first-year head coach Jacob Wilson is focused on building continuity, developing team chemistry, and leveraging the experience of his seniors to guide a young core.
“We return the core of our team from last year, and we have some talented underclassmen who are ready to step up and get varsity experience,” Wilson said. “The combination of returning leadership and youthful energy gives us a solid foundation to build on.”
Leading the team is senior forward Brody Ross (6-6, Sr.), a versatile player who can stretch the floor, play inside, and guard multiple positions. Ross’s ability to score from all areas of the court and his defensive versatility make him a key cornerstone for the Fightin’ Chicks this season.
Fellow seniors Kaiden Boswell (5-10, Sr.), John Vaness (5-11, Sr.), Austin Kinslow (5-9, Sr.), and Kylen Miller (5-8, Sr.) provide stability, experience, and leadership in the backcourt. Their collective knowledge of the game and familiarity with varsity competition will be essential in guiding the younger players and maintaining consistency throughout the season.
Sophomores Keaton Mowery (6-2, So.), Kamryn Perry (5-11, So.), and Aedyn Hoffman (5-9, So.) add a dynamic element to the team. Mowery, in particular, stands out for his scoring ability and high basketball IQ, capable of making plays at all levels. Perry and Hoffman provide energy, speed, and versatility in the backcourt, giving the Chicks more options on both ends of the floor.
Freshman Jaxon McDaniel (6-0, Fr.) rounds out the key contributors, bringing athleticism, effort, and a willingness to learn that will serve the team well as he adjusts to the varsity level.
With a blend of experienced seniors, promising underclassmen, and a coaching staff focused on development and teamwork, the Chickasha Fightin’ Chicks are looking to build on last season’s lessons. If this group can continue to grow together and maximize its versatility, they have the potential to compete at a high level in the area and make a statement in the postseason.
