Junior infielder Javier Nieto wears Chickasha’s purple and gold with pride every time he steps onto the diamond. 

He has already built a postseason résumé many players dream about. “I am most proud of having back-to-back state tournament appearances and starting in both appearances,” Nieto said.

Baseball has shaped his mindset on and off the field. “My sport has taught me discipline and to not get mad at your mistakes, that you need to move on to the next thing,” he said. That ability to reset has become a key part of how he approaches tough innings and everyday life.

In the classroom, one teacher made a lasting impact. “My favorite teacher is Mrs. Jantzens class my sophomore year,” Nieto said. “She just made every day a great day, and I really enjoy her class.”

At home, his biggest motivation comes from his parents’ commitment to his journey. “My parents inspire me. I have seen them throughout my whole career, running around and getting me to tournaments. It really takes a lot to run me and my brother around,” he said.

A former upperclassman helped set his standard for work and fun. “The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me is Bryan Lopez during my freshman year,” Nieto said. “He really took me under his wing and taught me how to work harder and make the game fun.”

Representing Chickasha means carrying more than just a name across his chest. “My favorite part about representing Chickasha is that I get to show our pride and how much love I have for the school. Every event I go to, I will wear the purple and gold,” he said.

Simple advice keeps him steady when emotions run high. “The best advice I’ve gotten is ‘don’t let every little thing affect you and how you play the rest of the game,’” Nieto said.

He knows he did not get here alone. “I want to give thanks to my mom and dad for everything they’ve gone through for me to get to where I am,” he said.
