Chickasha Fightin’ Chicks Girls Basketball Preview – Presented by Shelter Insurance – Gerron Smith Insurance Agency LLC

The Chickasha Fightin’ Chicks enter the 2025-2026 season with a roster that promises depth, experience, and leadership. After finishing 15-13 last year with no seniors on the roster, head coach Jace Johnson is excited to see how a veteran core, now bolstered by a group of five seniors and a move-in point guard, will compete this season.

“This is by far the deepest team I’ve had at Chickasha,” Johnson said. “We return everyone, and several players really understand their roles. The competition for playing time in practice will be intense, which should make us a very tough team come game time.”

Leading the Fightin’ Chicks is senior guard Mea Ginn (5-8, Sr.), a four-year starter who has consistently been one of the team’s top scorers and rebounders. Ginn has faced box-and-one defenses and remains the focal point of Chickasha’s offense. Complementing her is move-in point guard Maycee Hill (5-6, Sr.), who averaged 15 points, five assists, and four steals last season. Hill brings poise, awareness, and versatility, giving the Chicks depth and options in the backcourt.

Senior guard Addison Ferguson (5-6, Sr.) adds leadership and stability. Johnson describes her as possibly the best innate leader he’s coached in his 15-year career, and her energy and toughness set the tone for the team. Seniors Kayleigh Terry (5-6, Sr.) and Ashlynn Smith (6-2, Sr.) round out the upperclassmen core, with Smith providing a strong presence in the post at six-foot-two, averaging nine points, five rebounds, and contributing defensively with two blocks per game.

The underclassmen provide the Fightin’ Chicks with further depth and versatility. Sophomore guard Brynlie Alexander (5-8, So.), a team leader in steals as a freshman, is expected to expand her scoring and influence this season. Sophomore forward Reed Wilkins (6-0, So.) balances her responsibilities with FFA commitments while providing consistent effort and communication on the court. Juniors Sydney Burtschi (5-5, Jr.), Carley Ryans (5-11, Jr.), Olivia Wilson (5-6, Jr.), and others will be key contributors in rotations that allow Chickasha to maintain high tempo and competitive intensity.

Other players who will look to contribute this season include Channing Haywood (5-8, Jr.), Zoe Van Ess (5-8, So.), Kemoni Benoit (5-8, So.), Breena Patel (5-2, So.), Sorella Trammell (5-7, So.), and Jayle Rutledge (5-7, Fr.).

With a blend of proven seniors, skilled underclassmen, and strong positional depth, the Fightin’ Chicks have the tools to compete at a high level this season. Coach Johnson’s message is clear: understand your role, play hard, and embrace the team’s depth, and success will follow.
