Chickasha High School junior Marley Scott is a multisport athlete, participating in football, wrestling, and track and field for the Chickasha Fightin’ Chicks. In football, Marley plays the positions of both center and defensive end. This upcoming football season will mark his 12th year playing the sport. Marley has also participated in wrestling, as well as track and field, for 3 years.
Marley is proud to represent his school and community as a student athlete. Marley proclaimed, “It means a lot to play for my community, and to see the supporters of Chickasha Athletics out in public, cheering us on.”
Some of Marley’s proudest achievements include placing 4th in the Heavyweight Division at the Oklahoma High School 5A Wrestling State Championships. Additionally, Marley placed 5th in the discus throw, and 6th in the shot put, at the Oklahoma High School 5A State Track Championships.
Many student athletes have a teacher that has been the biggest impact on their academic journey. For Marley, this specific teacher stood out both in and outside the classroom. Marley accounted, “The teacher who has made the biggest impact on my life is Mrs. Abera Alexander; she was not only my teacher, but also a volunteer at my church, and a big reason I gave my life to Christ.”
Two other individuals have motivated and inspired Marley. Marley said, “My motivation is my mom, a single mother who provides everything for my brother and me; she pushes us to be better than she was. An inspiration of mine is my coach, Sam Rayburn, who made it to the NFL, and came back to coach and give back to his community.”
In addition to being a multisport athlete, Marley is involved in other extracurricular activities. Marley stated, “I have been involved in Student Council for the last 2 years, as well as the National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars.”
After graduating from high school, Marley plans on pursuing higher education. Marley stated, “After graduating, I plan to attend college on an athletic scholarship, and major in Finance and Marketing.”
