The Chickasha Fighting Chicks are heading into the 2025 fastpitch season with optimism and momentum under second-year head coach Dalton Streber. After inheriting a program that won just three games the season prior, Streber and his squad showed marked improvement in 2024, finishing 13-26 while competing in one of the toughest districts in the state.
“The record doesn’t tell the full story,” Streber said. “We played a brutal schedule, were in close games, and made major cultural changes. The girls bought in, and their daily work ethic has been phenomenal.”
This year, the Fighting Chicks return seven starters and welcome back two players from injury, along with a promising freshman group that could contribute early. Chickasha looks to flip some of last season’s narrow losses into wins and take another leap forward.
Leading the way is senior ace Lorren Burrows, who earned All-District Honorable Mention honors last year as both a pitcher and hitter. Her competitive spirit and leadership set the tone for the team. “Her confidence is at an all-time high,” said Streber. “I expect big things from her this year.”
Junior Carley Ryans made a seamless transition to center field in 2024, earning 1st Team All-District honors. A versatile athlete with offensive production to match, Ryans finished in the top three in both runs scored and RBIs. Her continued development and leadership will be key for Chickasha’s success.
Sophomore Iva Wilson turned heads last season, starting at third base and hitting in the two-hole as a freshman. She finished top three in nearly every offensive category and led the team in stolen bases, earning All-District Honorable Mention. Her poise and production will be vital again in 2025.
Senior Mykayla Shearer, a three-year starter in left field, brings unmatched leadership and consistency. “She’s the definition of leading by example,” Streber said. “First to show up, last to leave—every coach dreams of players like her.”
With a balanced mix of experienced returners and rising talent, the Fighting Chicks are ready to take the next step and make noise in Class 4A this fall.
