Chickasha’s Mea Ginn – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Community Bank of Oklahoma

Chickasha High School junior Mea Ginn is passionate about basketball. Mea plays the position of shooting guard for the Chickasha High School Fighting Chicks. A veteran of the sport, Mea explained, “I have been playing basketball since I was 6 years old.”

Mea went on to state, “I enjoy lifting and working out. I was a state placer in junior high school powerlifting; I love feeling strong. I have also played club basketball with The Oklahoma Swarm for 3 years, and love to travel.”

In terms of what it means for Mea to represent her school and community as a basketball player, Mea stated, “It means a lot to be given an opportunity to represent my school, community, and home. It is a privilege I do not take lightly, and am blessed with the opportunity.”

As far as her biggest role model, Mea stated, “My mom is one of my biggest role models. She is such a hard worker, and confident in anything she does.”

Asked what motivates her, Mea proclaimed, “My goal to play college basketball keeps me very focused and motivated. My coaches and trainers have always believed in me, and pushed me. Their trust and dedication have always been motivating forces.”

Many memories are made during a student athlete’s career. Mea recalled, “I would say one of the highlights in my career was my first ever varsity game. I started as a freshman, and it was exciting getting to play in that type of environment for my first high school game. It was a really good game, we won in overtime, and I had a good overall performance. That game is definitely a favorite memory.”

In addition to playing basketball for the Chickasha Fighting Chick, Mea is a member of The National Honor Society.

After graduating from high school, Mea plans on furthering her education. Mea stated, “I plan to hopefully play basketball in college, majoring in accounting and computer science.”
