9 Qs with Chickasha wrestler Dylan Bratt – Presented by Community Bank of Oklahoma

VYPE:What were your goals this last season and how did you do?
Dylan: My goal this year, as a sophomore returning state champion, was to win another state title and become a two time, back to back, high school state champion. I fell a little short of my goal, losing in the semi finals, at the state tournament. I went on to dominate my placement match, finishing out the tournament and season with third place!

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Dylan: This sport has taught me, and continues to teach me, a great deal…Work ethic, determination, commitment, and to stay focused on the task at hand and never give up, to name a few! This applies to on the mat in the practice room, out at competitions, in the classroom and to all other aspects of my life!

VYPE: What does your team mean to you?
Dylan: My team, coaches and school mean a lot to me. Every time I step on the mat, I know that I am representing, not only myself, but all of them. I take great pride in representing Chickasha High School and always try to do my best to represent it well! This is what drives me to be the best! However, there have been a couple times where the weight on my shoulders, from doing so, has been almost unbearable to carry, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Dylan: I have numerous people who inspire me greatly, but my dad inspires me the most. From day one of my wrestling journey, he has pushed me and my brother, Cash Bratt, as hard as he can. He has always encouraged us and pushed us to work harder than anyone in the room. He has always told us that if we want it, believe in it and put in the work, we can achieve anything!

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Dylan: The teammate that leaves the biggest impression on me, is our assistant coach, Montana Moon. When I was a young wrestler, new to Chickasha, and coming up in the Chickasha Youth Wrestling Club, I admired Montana’s work ethic and competitive drive. Coach Montana pushes me hard in the practice room and doesn’t cut me any slack when he and I go live! I have taken a few butt whippings from him, but always learn a great deal along the way!

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

Dylan: My favorite part about being on a team is practicing hard, making each other better and cheering my teammates on while competing. The growth our young team has had the last couple of years has been fun to be part of. The memories we are all making, as a team, will be with us forever!

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Dylan: Although not a summer vacation, I would like to go to Colorado and go snowboarding with my family. I would like to take my cousin Wyatt and his family with me as well as some of my friends.

VYPE: What is the best advice you have ever received?
Dylan: The best advice I have ever received is to stay determined, stay humble, never stop working hard and keep pushing the pace. When things don’t go your way, or the outcome isn’t what you wanted or worked for, don’t get down on yourself too hard. Soak in the moment, learn from it, let it go, move on, and keep working hard to get better!

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.
Dylan: I would like to thank all of my coaches for teaching/coaching me and for always pushing me to be the best I can. I want to thank my teammates and extended wrestling family for always having my back and cheering me on. Lastly I would like to thank my parents, my brothers, my little sister and my entire family (there are a lot of them) for always showing up, supporting me and believing in me no matter what!
